ABBYY FineReader Engine includes a range of add-on modules available for RTLs, extending its functionality, such as: special Document Analysis for Invoices, additional PDF recognition features, CJK OCR (Chinese, Japanese and Korean), Thai, and Hebrew OCR and other add-ons.
There are several add-on modules available for RTLs, extending its functionality:
A special document analysis function designed as a pre-processing engine for converting semi-structured documents such as invoices, payment drafts, checks, transfers, business cards, agreement, health claim forms, resumes, etc.
This function automatically detects and recognizes all text on documents including text embedded in pictures, charts, and diagrams. Developers may choose to use this mode of document analysis to extract exhaustive full-text information on documents needed for document index building (as in DMS, CMS, and archiving systems)
ABBYY FineReader Engine 9.0 for Linux includes an add-on OCR module for Chinese (both traditional and simplified), Japanese and Korean languages
ABBYY FineReader Engine 9.0 for Linux offers an add-on module specifically designed for recognition of Thai characters. It also provides recognition of Thai documents containing characters of other languages available for OCR and exports the results to TXT format
The Hebrew OCR add-on supports recognition of documents in Hebrew as well as those including texts in both Hebrew and "left-to-right" languages (such as English, German and so on) providing bidirectional recognition. It supports export to TXT format
ABBYY FineReader Engine 9.0 for Linux can open and process PDF files, providing close to 100% recognition accuracy on commonly used PDF format types (including files with encoded fonts). Using an Intelligent Opening Scheme, FineReader Engine 9.0 recognizes PDF files in three steps: it first converts PDF files into images using Adobe® PDF Library Technology, then performs standard recognition, and finally it extracts the “text layer” from the PDF file and checks the recognition results against this text. This approach also eliminates problems associated with extraction of encoded fonts
This add-on module allows you to export the resulting text into PDF format in four modes: image only, text and image, text over image, and text under image. Under the ASCII license, only "PDF Image Only" export is available
This add-on module allows you to convert the resulting text into PDF/A format
Allows PDF MRC compression which significantly reduce size of output PDF files
All information about text recognition available through API will be collected in the generated XML file
The 2D Barcode Recognition add-on module recognizes 2D barcodes. See the List of Available Barcode Types.
