ABBYY is looking for a new Payroll and Compensation & Benefits professional to join our European HR and People Operations team. As a member of our growing People Operations team, you will work closely with Finance to execute and coordinate all payroll activities with local payroll providers while also administering company benefit packages for seven countries across Europe. Additionally, as the Payroll and C&B Adviser, you will participate in various global HR projects, including executing internal global C&B related programs locally.

The ideal candidate has deep, specialized knowledge and experience in German tax, social insurance and labor laws as well as experience in international payroll management, knowledge of best practices for some European countries and an interest to further develop in this area. To be successful in this role, the candidate should bring excellent interpersonal and organization skills, a high degree of autonomy and a passion for finding great ways to keep our employees happy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the European Payroll processes with the support of external providers across 7 countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and the UK.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates and benefits.
  • Oversees required payments to third parties and ensures statutory deadlines are met.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies.
  • Acts as the key contact person for the external providers, authorities, insurance companies, tax advisors and others.
  • Supports the tax and social security audits in collaboration with HR and/ or tax advisors.
  • Implements and administrates Compensation & Benefit programs, policies and procedures and ensures that they comply with current local tax legislation as well as global company guidelines.
  • Explains, notifies, and advises employees and managers of the company’s benefits, such as pension schemes, shares program, etc.
  • Compiles benefit data and prepares summary reports.
  • Participates with HR and Finance in annual benefits review.
  • Provides various communications to Employees via letters and/or e-mails as it relates to employee Payroll and Benefits.
  • Participates in various global HR function projects.

Requirements:

  • University or equivalent degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in (international) payroll processing, human resources, and compensation and benefits, within a fast-paced international environment.
  • Current European payroll, health and social insurance and income tax knowledge.
  • English and German language business level proficiency. French or/and other European languages would be a plus.
  • Collaborative team player with ability to work independently.
  • Strong time management skills, able to manage changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated person with passion for learning new things.
  • Process-driven, always looking for ways to optimize functions and processes.
  • Laser focused, with an excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) or similar applications.
