Business Development Manager Technology (f/m)

Exploration and creation of new business opportunities for our software development kits and core technologies product line in the Western European territory, identification and creation of new markets beyond the existing customer base, develop and influence strategic plans to promote ABBYY’s technology software sales. Identification of new business ideas, understanding of emerging market needs and the creation of strategic initiatives, introduce new product concepts and turn them into revenue contributors.


  • Identification and exploration of new business areas and opportunities for sales of ABBYY toolkits and core technologies across Western Europe. Achieved through collection and analysis of ongoing customer feedback and requests, market trends, industry changes and dynamics, and also through proactive research in specific areas of interest and potential customers interviews conducting targeted calls to potential customers and prospects.
  • Establishment and management of a pipeline of new business opportunities which are significant revenue generators
  • Identification, negotiation and formation of new strategic technology partnerships
  • Consistent in-market presence to be able to identify and analyse key market trends, potential new target audiences, key customer needs and ability to translate those into newly identified opportunities and markets
  • Establishment of regular sales process into new segments using existing sales team, achieved through education, hands-on involvement in first deals, sales toolkit creation contribution
  • Supervision and management of feasibility studies together with the technical team
  • Contribution to and execution of strategic business plans for identified business areas
  • Regular reporting to the management in the European headquarter and ABBYY headquarter in Moscow


  • Proven track record in creating new customer relationships in a business-to-business selling environment and achieving revenue targets
  • Strong sales skills to be able to proactively initiate potential projects within target audience
  • Excellent sales negotiation, presentation and communications skills, with a proven track record working with top level decision-makers and C-level executives
  • Experience selling with various audiences for software development toolkits (ISVs, system integrators, consultants, etc.)
  • Technical understanding of imaging technologies such as OCR, capture, etc.
  • Analytic and strategic thinking
  • Strong priority management skills
  • Experience in leading and motivating dynamic teams
  • Fluency in German and English languages, additional languages a plus
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial drive
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
