DevOps Specialist

What will I be doing? You’re ready to demonstrate first hand your proven track record of building high volume, high performance, and high availability systems. You’re on the front-lines for critical infrastructure issues and research plus advocate for the best tools and technology for both present and future needs. You work in strong cooperation with our distributed development team. With a strong sense of urgency and ownership, you tackle complex issues to ensure continual support for our customers. You are a dependable and reliable multi-tasker, able to wear multiple hates and successfully complete multiple projects in tangent. You are passionate about automation and infrastructure/configuration as code, and love working on small teams with a lot of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering production infrastructure
  • Continuous deployment support and integration
  • Build and support automation tools for infrastructure provisioning
  • Handle code deployments in all environments including on-premise installations
  • Monitor systems and metrics, troubleshoot and resolve issues with applications and implemented cloud solutions
  • Validate code changes, review code
  • Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards
  • Other activities as assigned
  • Work would require on call support and incident handling including nights and weekends as needed

Mandatory Skill Sets and Qualifications

  • Education & Certifications:
    • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field
  • Years of Experience:
    • 3-5 years of professional experience as a DevOps or system reliability engineer
  • Additional skills:
    • Deploying, automating, maintaining and managing production systems in AWS or any other cloud provider (Azure, Google Cloud) to ensure availability, performance, scalability and security of the production systems
    • Hands-on experience with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code approach (AWS Cloud Formation, Chef, Puppet)
    • Experience with Docker containerization in production environment
    • Experience with CI/CD servers like Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo
    • Basic database administration experience (MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle etc)
    • Experience with HTTP/S load balancers such as Nginx or HAProxy
    • Scripting skills: strong scripting (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash) and automation skills
    • Monitoring tools: experience with monitoring and log aggregation tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Zabbix, Grafana, ELK, AppInsight)
    • Hands-on system administration experience with both Linux and Windows OS
    • Problem solving: ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues
    • Professional commitment to high quality, and a passion for learning new skills
    • Desired Skills (Not essential but beneficial to have):
    • Experience in running 24x7 mission-critical systems
    • Networking: understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP)
    • Strong SQL database administration experience (any of the following: MS SQL server, PostgreSQL, etc.) including building complex queries and procedures
    • Strong NoSQL administration experience (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc)
    • Basic programming skills (any of the following: JavaScript, C#, Java, Python, C++) would be a plus
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory: authentication and security
    • Knowledge and experience with container technologies. Docker and Kubernetes are preferable ones
