Pre-Sales Engineer

What will I be doing? As a Pre-Sales Engineer, you support the sales teams and customers throughout the US and North America. You are a customer-focused technical professional, who knows how to provide high-level pre-sales support and guidance to customers while collaborating with our Sales Executives and partners to recommend and/or develop customer solution offerings. You’re comfortable presenting to audiences of all sizes, meeting with clients, tradeshow audiences, and new employees to demonstrate all of the capabilities of our solutions. You a key technical point of contact for the sales organization, acting as a consultant and subject matter expert in the field.

Where will I work? ABBYY is proud to offer remote employment opportunities for many of our roles. Travel to customers and/or company meetings is estimated at 20% of the time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a consultant during the pre/post-sales stages alongside the sale team, to present and demonstrate advance product features and benefits, as well as future product direction, to customers and partners
  • Conduct details customer requirements, discovery, and analysis
  • Refine and research technical requirements of the opportunity
  • Propose and design technical solutions which include creative prototypes and proof of concept
  • Promote new and innovative approaches to addressing business challenges and problems
  • Act as an interface between the Sales organization and technical staff for product management and development
  • Work closely with ABBYY engineering on customer requirements and new product direction
  • Work closely with customers in the design and implementation/integration of ABBYY products
  • Set and manage expectations with senior stakeholders and team members
  • Maintain a broad-level of knowledge of industry trends and how ABBYY products add value
  • Deliver web based or on-site training sessions to clients
  • Respond to technical, security, and functionality related RFP questions
  • Some travel required

Mandatory Skill Sets and Qualifications

  • BS degree required, focus in Computer Science or equivalent major preferred
  • 0 to 2+ years’ experience in a B2B environment in a Sales Engineer role supporting information technology and software design – Technical background is needed needed
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make and take responsibility for decisions on major technical issues
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Experience prioritizing and managing complex projects
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Resilience and ability to handle stressful situations effectively while managing several tasks
  • Technical knowledge of current software protocols and Internet standards
  • Competence with testing, flowcharts, and data mapping tools and procedures
  • Multilingual skills a plus: Russian, Japanese, Spanish, French, or other languages
  • Experience with Python a plus
