Sales Engineer, PreSales

ABBYY’s US team is looking for a PreSales Engineer to join our growing sales team. The PreSales Engineer will support sales and customers in the Central, Mountain, or Western regions of the US. The ideal candidate will be located in one of the corresponding time zones. The ABBYY Sales Engineers are customer-focused, technical professionals who provide high-level presales support and guidance to customers while collaborating with our Sales Executives and partners to recommend and/or develop customer solution offerings. The Sales Engineers are one of the key technical points of contact for the sales organization, acting in a consultative fashion and looked to as an expert in the field by the account team and customers. Our ideal candidate has a strong technical background, strong business acumen, and exception communication/presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a consultant during the pre/post-sales stages alongside the sale team, to present and demonstrate advance product features and benefits, as well as future product direction, to customers and partners
  • Conduct details customer requirements, discovery, and analysis
  • Refine and research technical requirements of the opportunity
  • Propose and design technical solutions which include creative prototypes and proof of concept
  • Promote new and innovative approaches to addressing business challenges and problems
  • Act as an interface between the Sales organization and technical staff for product management and development
  • Work closely with ABBYY engineering on customer requirements and new product direction
  • Work closely with customers in the design and implementation/integration of ABBYY products
  • Set and manage expectations with senior stakeholders and team members
  • Maintain a broad-level of knowledge of industry trends and how ABBYY products add value
  • Deliver web based or on-site training sessions to clients
  • Respond to technical, security, and functionality related RFP questions
  • Some travel required

Mandatory Skill Sets and Qualifications:

  • BS degree required, focus in Computer Science or equivalent major preferred
  • 0 to 2+ years’ experience in a B2B environment in a Sales Engineer role supporting information technology and software design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make and take responsibility for decisions on major technical issues
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Experience prioritizing and managing complex projects
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Resilience and ability to handle stressful situations effectively while managing several tasks
  • Technical knowledge of current software protocols and Internet standards
  • Competence with testing, flowcharts, and data mapping tools and procedures
  • Multilingual skills a plus: Russian, Japanese, Spanish, French, or other languages
