Automated Data Capture Solution Extracts Data from Scanned Documents and Delivers Directly to ECM and ERP Systems to Improve Workflow and Reduce Operational Overhead
ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software, today announced its TouchTo™ data capture product for LCD-based touchscreen technology has been integrated into the Fujitsu fi-6010N iScanner. As the industry’s first software to bring the Fujitsu touch screen color LCD technology and ABBYY’s zonal capture engine together, TouchTo allows users to directly route any field in any document from a network scanner directly to backend DM, ECM, ERP systems. ABBYY’s newest product leverages the ease and power of touch technology to simplify the process of extracting data from scanned documents in the front office, significantly improving efficiency and reducing costs.
“TouchTo will dramatically improve the workflow process for businesses and positively impact the bottom line,” explained Scott Thompson, senior product marketing manager at ABBYY USA. “TouchTo combines ABBYY's vast experience in data capture technology and Fujitsu's market leading hardware, providing an affordable, easy-to-use and accessible solution to automate document processing.”
TouchTo combines the latest OCR technology with the Fujitsu touchscreen system to simplify the document management process by reducing the multiple steps required to get fields from scanned documents into backend systems. Anyone scanning a document can route data capture and metadata extraction results into applications from the scanning entry point. The technology has been designed so that anyone capable of operating a scanner is able to use this solution to capture paper-bound documents and data fields within those documents straight into archive, document management and accounting systems. Prior to this release, data extraction was performed on a separate PC, requiring one or more operators to input documents and process them in separate steps. Or, if data extraction were to be performed at the scanner, keystroking was required. With TouchTo, data extraction is performed by simply tapping on a word or number as the document is displayed on the scanner’s LCD screen.
“With Abbyy's OCR technology integrated with the fi-6010N network scanner, single and multi-page documents and invoices can be scanned directly into accounting software, with the metadata being auto populated into the appropriate database or systems,” said Doug Rudolph, vice president of product management and business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. “The solution requires minimal end user training and provides the ease of use operation that our customers are requesting as they look to expand their capture deployment.”
