New Software Expands Freedom of E-reading with Instant and Accurate Translation of Words from Many Languages
ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, document capture, and linguistic technologies and services, and PocketBook International, a manufacturer of E-Ink-based multifunctional devices, today announced that the new series of Pocketbook e-readers will be bundled with ABBYY Lingvo dictionary software. The new series include four premium-class models PocketBook Pro 602 and Pro 902, PocketBook Pro 603 and Pro 903, and PocketBook IQ with TFT color screen. ABBYY Lingvo will be pre-installed with 44 dictionaries for location and translation of words between English and 24 other European languages. Linguistic technology underlying the software expands the possibilities of e-reading with multilingual translation and powerful morphological search for words.
“The demand for e-readers has been fueled by consumer demand for easy access to information while on the go. That includes information in foreign languages ranging from simple references that may require translation to masterpieces of foreign literature in original languages,” commented Katya Solntseva, director of the mobile products department at ABBYY. “With Lingvo dictionary software installed on a PocketBook device, users can quickly locate and understand words that are unfamiliar to them.”
The new series of PocketBook e-readers provides the comfort of paper-like reading with the functionality and freedom of digital information. The series includes devices in several classes allowing users to choose the most suitable e-reader in terms of functionality, size and price.
ABBYY Lingvo allows PocketBook e-reader users to instantly translate unfamiliar words in a book without leaving the page they are on. The software offers an intelligent word look-up technology that provides accurate translations by using any form of a given word. Dictionaries installed on a PocketBook e-reader can also be accessed via a separate dedicated interface.
If a user needs more language combinations or more comprehensive content they can easily extend the basic dictionary set by purchasing additional premium content dictionaries via www.bookland.net.
The new PocketBook e-readers with pre-installed ABBYY Lingvo will become available for purchase in the US and Europe over the coming weeks. For more information about the products and for availability in your region, visit www.pocketbook-int.com.
