Samsung’s Popular Dual SIM Card Phone Features ABBYY’s Acclaimed Dictionary Software Built into It
ABBYY announces that ABBYY Lingvo dictionary software is now built into Samsung’s OS and offered on its popular DuoS D880 mobile phone to customers in Russia. This integration manifests the ever-strengthening relationship between Samsung and ABBYY. In 2006, the companies signed a contract providing integration of ABBYY Lingvo dictionary software into all Samsung notebooks supplied to the Russian market. Then, in early 2007 certain Samsung phone models offered in European countries and Indonesia were equipped with ABBYY Business Card Reader application.
Today, ABBYY Lingvo is available on Samsung D880 DuoS enabling users to have instant access to word translations and phrasebooks. This phone model is especially beneficial for travelers, because they can simultaneously use two SIM cards with local and home numbers thus cutting roaming charges. Now, equipped with Lingvo, Samsung DuoS makes a great travel companion.
ABBYY’s partner in Korea, DIOTEK Co., Ltd., a software development expert for embedded applications, played a major role in integrating ABBYY Lingvo software. DIOTEK is also Samsung’s long-time partner for integrating Korean dictionaries into Samsung phones. The largest and most complete Lingvo Universal dictionary base was provided for this project. The result of the collaboration between DIOTEK’s engineers and Samsung’s project group is the ABBYY Lingvo dictionary seamlessly built into Samsung interface.
“This deal is one from the series of similar projects when mobile vendors are interested in integrating ABBYY Lingvo into own operating systems,” comments Helen Pospelova, Head of International Sales Department at ABBYY Russia. “The demand for mobile versions of electronic dictionaries, data capture technologies and many other intelligent applications is gaining momentum, and I think that soon these applications will become basic functionalities offered by mobile vendors.”
