Government department recently upgraded its licence to handle an even larger volume of documents

ABBYY UK Ltd., a leading provider of technologies and services for document recognition, data capture and linguistics, announced that Land Registry is using ABBYY FlexiCapture to help automate document related processes. FlexiCapture was implemented as part of Land Registry’s electronic Document Registration Service (e-DRS), a 3-year project aimed at making the organisation a world leader in the delivery of land and property services.

The government department registers the ownership of land and property across England and Wales and currently documents over 24 million titles.

Chris Kemmner, part of the Land Registry development team that implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture, says: “Originally, we thought we’d need a licence to read up to 5 million pages of information in 2014. We were close to exceeding our limit and we now expect to record data from over 10 million pages of information in 2014. ABBYY were very helpful and supplied the new licence within 3 working days.”

Land Registry used ABBYY’s FlexiCapture solution to increase automation in its document based business processes, which has successfully:

  • Reduced manual keying of information
  • Allowed a larger scale of documents to be automatically processed at once

“We are pleased that Land Registry has chosen ABBYY to power their solution,” states Ed MacArthur, Head of Sales for ABBYY UK. “ABBYY's award-winning forms processing and data capture end-user products are used by numerous government agencies and businesses all over the world and we’re looking forward to continuing the partnership in the future.”
