Overview
ABBYY FineReader Engine 8.0 with Extended Platform Support is a powerful software development kit (SDK) for integrating optical character recognition (OCR), barcode recognition and PDF conversion technologies into applications running on the Linux® and FreeBSD® platforms. ABBYY FineReader Engine provides an efficient and flexible way to integrate document recognition and PDF conversion functions into a wide variety of applications including archiving and storage, document conversion and management, and content management.
The SDK also includes advanced document analysis capabilities specifically optimized for different recognition tasks, such as invoice processing and full-text indexing, and delivers field level/zonal recognition capabilities to support processes such as keyword classification and keyword indexing.
With the release of the ABBYY FineReader Engine 8.0 EPS, Linux and BSD application developers are able to use the powerful document recognition and conversion technologies already chosen by many leading vendors worldwide, including Canon, DICOM/Kofax, EMC/Captiva, Microsoft, Microtek, NewSoft, Notable Solutions, Samsung Electronics and others (see the case studies).
