As we continue celebrating International Women’s Month, we are excited to introduce you to Gina Ray, VP of Corporate Marketing at ABBYY. Gina has led ABBYY’s Public Relations and Corporate Marketing for nearly six years, sharing her passion for technology and storytelling at every step along the way. Earlier in her career, Gina found success launching her own communications company, teaching her the leadership she carries with her today. Driving ABBYY’s vision, she fosters a spirit of curiosity, and inspires others by driving meaningful impact rooted in embracing change, and striving for growth.
Gina took the time to share more about her journey, what brought her to ABBYY, and more. Here’s what she had to say:
My career has predominantly been in the communications field working with tech companies ranging from startups to mid-sized private companies, and global public enterprises. I’ve had the privilege of leading award-winning programs that generated high-impact brand awareness, driving significant business value.
I’ve always loved the challenge of bringing together different marketing strategies to create an impactful campaign. Whether it’s launching a new product or expanding thought leadership, I enjoy finding creative ways to position organizations for growth. One of my proudest achievements was contributing to the success of a former company that sold twice for one billion dollars!
Two things drew me to ABBYY: 1) the company culture and 2) the incredible value its solutions deliver to customers.

My journey at ABBYY began with leading its global public relations program, where I worked closely with media in US, UK, Germany, France, and APAC to advance our thought leadership. I later transitioned to leading Corporate Marketing, where my team ensures that ABBYY’s culture of innovation and leadership is consistently conveyed.
Every day, my goal is to amplify the ABBYY brand across key markets through owned digital channels and earned media. It’s about making sure our message resonates and reflects the innovative solutions we bring to the table.

I’m an encourager. I believe it’s important for my team to know they have my support to challenge themselves, improve, and experiment within their craft. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing my team grow and succeed. When a team member takes on a challenging project outside their comfort zone, and with encouragement and support, they deliver an incredible campaign. They exceed their own expectations, and moments like that remind me why I love leading my team.
My team specifically is a service organization for the rest of the company. Whether it’s digital marketing, PR, or social media team, we advocate for what product marketing, R&D, the revenue team, and the events team are doing. We are the communicators, and I lead my team to amplify ABBYY’s message in creative and impactful ways.

We’ve played with bold colors, dramatic designs and fonts, and experimented with the latest tactics, but in the end, the real secret to standing out is innovation. ABBYY has consistently been a leader in AI-powered document processing and has helped thousands of customers achieve intelligent automation with purpose-built AI.
We were the first to introduce a low-code/no-code IDP solution. The first to put a stake on purpose-built AI. The first to advocate for trustworthy and ethical use of AI, and we’re far from being done.
Being part of a global company, I work every day with women from around the world. My team alone has women located in the US, England, and Germany, and we collaborate everyday with colleagues in Canada, France, Spain, India, Hungary and Serbia. It’s insipring to see how we bring together different perspectives to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
International Women’s Month means more to me now because it's an opportunity to appreciate our cultural uniqueness while celebrating our similarities as #OneABBYY.

Tech and AI used to feel intimidating for some women. Men, or strictly engineering-minded women, were often favored for opportunities. Today, technology is more easily available and approachable. With a prompt or an app, women can quickly utilize AI in their daily lives and at work. I’m especially happy to see more women on product and R&D teams, shaping development discussions about innovation and driving user experience.
This shift excites me because it’s breaking down barriers and empowering women to engage with and shape the future of technology.
Daily exercise – whether it’s walking, Pilates or strength training – and my faith are the two consistent activities that recharge me. For inspiration, I love reading historical fiction.
I come from a family of six kids. My parents had three boys and three girls, just like the “Brady Bunch.” Maybe that’s why I thrive on challenges and love being part of a dynamic team – it feels like second nature!
