ABBYY Customer Trendset Receives AIIM 2007 “Best Practices” Award

ABBYY, a leading provider of recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies, today announced its customer Trendset, Inc. received top honors in the AIIM annual "Best Practice" awards for having the best enterprise content management (ECM) implementation in the small business category. AIIM presented Trendset and ABBYY with the awards on Tuesday, April 17th at the annual AIIM awards celebration in conjunction with the AIIM Conference and Exposition currently taking place in Boston, MA.

The Carl E. Nelson Best Practices Award recognizes excellence in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) field. This award provides an exciting and unique way for end user organizations to share their ECM project implementations with their peers and for ECM solution providers to showcase the ROI that their solutions can achieve.

“From the many quality submissions we received, the AIIM Emerging Technology Advisory Group (EmTAG) selected nine finalists, and AIIM members made the final determination of the award winners,” said John Mancini, president of AIIM. “The winners chosen have clearly demonstrated best practices from which our membership can learn valuable lessons.”

Trendset, a provider of advanced freight audit, accounting and payment services previously processed invoices, bills of lading and delivery receipts manually. This process required 35 full-time employees, and it took approximately five days to turn around each document.

“When I carefully examined our previous operational workflow, I discovered obvious bottlenecks, particularly in separating and sorting paper documents and manually keying in data,” said Jay Johnson, CTO at Trendset. “ABBYY FlexiCapture Studio automatically differentiates invoices from supporting documents, completely eliminating the need for manual pre-sorting. We work with approximately 1,200 different carriers at any given time, and FlexiCapture accurately extracts the required data from the wide variety of forms we deal with.”

When Trendset implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture Studio, it successfully reduced the processing turnaround time per document by 40 percent, and reduced its data processing headcount from 35 to 21. By eliminating physical separator pages from the process, the company saves $60,000 annually in these paper costs alone. FlexiCapture automatically extracts the data, checks to see if an invoice has been prepaid, and finds duplicate invoices by comparing the data on newly arriving invoices with the data on carrier invoices already processed. Moreover, by aging payments of billing documents against its clients’ preferences, Trendset guarantees that each customer pays its freight carriers the minimum required by existing contracts.
