ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software and professional services, today announced that Ricoh, a global technology company specializing in office imaging equipment, production print solutions, document management systems and IT services, has integrated ABBYY FineReader Engine 10 into its GlobalScan™ NX scan integration software to improve accuracy and speed of recognition results. The award-winning FineReader Engine 10 Software Development Kit (SDK) supports OCR (optical character recognition) in 198 languages and features PDF conversion, fast processing speeds, and unrivaled accuracy. The combined solution simplifies document recognition processes for organizations in the education, healthcare, human resources markets, as well as other SOHO and enterprise users.

"After evaluating several solutions, ABBYY's intelligent platform demonstrated unmatched accuracy and features that our customers require to help them succeed in their businesses,” said Steven Burger, vice president of product marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “ABBYY's commitment to providing highly accurate, innovative technologies aligns with our philosophy, making them the perfect partner for improving our GlobalScan NX solution.”

GlobalScan NX efficiently converts scanned paper documents into electronic files in multiple file formats and routes them to network folders, email addresses, fax servers and directly into Microsoft SharePoint and other business systems. The integration of FineReader Engine 10 will deliver up to 99.8 percent accuracy to GlobalScan NX's recognition functionality, significantly improving its conversion and document processing capabilities. With load- balancing and failover support, users across the entire company can reliably scan and route documents to predefined workflows using a simple interface.

FineReader Engine 10 is a state-of-the-art SDK that enables application and software developers to easily integrate core document recognition technologies into their solution. Included within the SDK are easy-to-use tools for creating templates of fixed forms such as questionnaires, surveys and tests, allowing developers to meet the individual document management needs of their target markets. The application also provides a unique base of recognition languages including 198 languages for OCR and 113 languages for intelligent character recognition (ICR), enabling developers to quickly and easily extend their solutions to a global customer base.

“Ricoh's integration of ABBYY's recognition technology validates our ongoing commitment to improving the accuracy of OCR and data capture technology,” said Dean Tang, CEO at ABBYY USA. “With a focus on providing the highest accuracy possible, we are satisfying the needs of our developer customers, enabling them to develop leading solutions to customers that increase efficiency, saving time and reducing costs in the process.”
