ABBYY Announces Business Card Reading Application for the iPhone

ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software, today announced the availability of its Business Card Reader solution with support for the Apple® iPhone® 3GS, in addition to the Symbian-based version released last year. It transfers contact data such as names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other key information from business cards directly to the iPhone address book by using the device’s camera and text recognition technology. Delivering support for 16 recognition languages, ABBYY Business Card Reader performs almost instantaneous, on-device processing of captured information, without the need for an internet connection to access external resources. ABBYY’s own OCR (optical character recognition) technology that has won worldwide acclaim for its supreme accuracy in digitizing printed text makes the application a truly reliable business instrument.

All these data types can be saved automatically to the corresponding fields of a phone book without the need for further reorganization of the obtained data. At the same time, it provides additional options allowing users to add or change the fields or edit the captured text if necessary.
