Editors selected ABBYY’s OCR development tool for its powerful combination of state-of-the art features

ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Scripting Edition received the “Best of AIIM” award from Transform Magazine, a leading industry publication that focuses on technologies for the capture, storage, management, delivery and sharing of business content. Editors of Transform said they met with more than 100 vendors and evaluated every announcement at AIIM 2002, a conference and expo for users and suppliers of enterprise content management solutions.  After extensive review, editors selected ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Scripting Edition as one of only 15 products that help reinvent ways of doing business with “breakthrough technologies or powerful combinations of state-of-the-art features.” Specifically, editors say they selected FineReader 6.0 Scripting Edition because they were impressed by the product’s low cost, flexibility, and accessibility to the corporate developer.

“In our estimation, these products are breaking new ground and bringing more value to our readers,” said Doug Henschen, Transform’s Editor-in-Chief.  “We felt they deserved recognition.”

Introduced at AIIM 2002, FineReader 6.0 Scripting Edition enables system integrators, VARs and corporate IT developers to customize FineReader 6.0 Professional or FineReader 6.0 Corporate Edition and integrate these solutions into Windows applications by writing a only few lines of code, rather than developing applications from scratch. Designed for mid-to-high volume document conversion projects, the Scripting Edition provides automation Application Programming Interface (API) tools needed to easily incorporate FineReader 6.0 OCR products into document imaging systems within a production environment. ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Scripting Edition is offered in two versions (FineReader 6.0 Professional Scripting Edition and FineReader 6.0 Corporate Scripting Edition) and is expected to be available in May.

“AIIM is an extremely important show in our industry and is the forum for introducing new digital imaging technologies, so we are thrilled to receive Transform’s ‘Best of AIIM’ award.  We are also honored to be recognized for excellence alongside other industry leaders, including Cardiff, Fujitsu and Kofax,” said Dean Tang, president and CEO of ABBYY USA.  “FineReader 6.0 Scripting Edition truly provides a unique, flexible solution for customizing and integrating extensive FineReader OCR functionality for the production environment – without developing an application from ground zero.”

Transform announced the winners in a press release on March 26, 2002, and posted descriptions of the “Best of AIIM” technologies at this page.
