Key Insights from the Final ABBYY AI Summit of 2025: Singapore

by Jane Tan, Marketing Manager, APAC
The companies seeing measurable results today are those who treat AI as a tool for purposeful transformation, rather than experimentation.

We began this year’s edition of The Intelligent Enterprise with a preview of the ABBYY AI Summit Series. At our first stop in Vienna, we saw an emphasis in fraud and trust, and the application of ABBYY’s robust OCR used to structure the JFK files released by the U.S. government. It was at the ABBYY AI Summit in London where we saw the emphasis shift to the performance of large language models (LLMs) and the need for purpose-built AI to augment them for enterprise-grade performance and accuracy, and where ABBYY first introduced the concept there is “no AI without PI” (process intelligence).

As we headed to ABBYY AI Summit Austin, attendees experienced how, by using a hybrid approach with intelligent document processing (IDP) and LLMs, companies can benefit from the best of both worlds.

Now, with our last edition of The Intelligent Enterprise of 2025, we pause on our finale: the ABBYY AI Summit in Singapore. It brought together industry leaders, partners, and customers to explore the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.

The two-day event dove deep into the practical applications of artificial intelligence, from orchestrating complex workflows to unlocking the value hidden within enterprise data. Each day presented a unique approach from partners and customers in the ABBYY ecosystem, allowing for in-depth analysis and interactive opportunities for attendees.

For those in our rapidly expanding partner program—which includes the likes of Deloitte, IBM, FUJIFILM Business Innovation (BI) Australia, and Microsoft—the partner track offered businesses lively discussions surrounding the ability to improve and accelerate processes dependent on information found within documents. In the customer track, attendees also had the opportunity to explore how ABBYY’s technology works for their specific needs and hear examples from industry peers.

Here are some of the key insights and takeaways from the day.

The state of AI in 2025: Trends and transformations

In a panel discussion on the state of AI in 2025, panelists Alexander Hanff, an AI Privacy Advocate and Managing Director at Hanff & Co, Loic Villerot from Louis Dreyfus Company, Jon Knisley of ABBYY, and host Maxime Vermeir of ABBYY presented questions and solutions as to why AI is quickly becoming the center of technological strategies.

This in-depth discussion explored the truths and transformations shaping the industry—despite the perceived gap between AI’s promise and reality. A main theme that weaved itself throughout the conversation surrounded the knowledge gap in AI usage.

AI tools available today are vast and moldable to any workflow, but businesses need to be able to discern how to implement knowledge and manage causality. As conversations surrounding AI developments continue and usage guardrails are being implemented across the globe, there is a need to use these technologies responsibly so they can best support all those who use them and are impacted by them. Businesses must not look at AI as a one-stop solution. Decision makers need to step back and discover where it should be implemented to best fit how they operate.

Innovation with purpose-built AI

The theme of ”bridging the knowledge gap” continued throughout the summit as Slavena Hristova, Director of Product Marketing at ABBYY, and Knisley took to the stage to do just that. Their session stressed that the best way to receive real, measurable results and ROI from AI is through strategic implementation. Businesses need not chase every new technological trend but need to employ technology that is right for their business model and demonstrably helps drive productivity, employee satisfaction, and sustainable ROI. This is how businesses can avoid being part of the 80% of AI projects that fail.

The companies seeing measurable results today are those who treat AI as a tool for purposeful transformation, rather than experimentation. While these investments may only provide marginal business impact, they focus on supporting the customer base and harnessing tools to process and manage data.

ABBYY’s dual approach to purpose-built AI, harnessing both process intelligence and intelligent document processing (Process AI and Document AI), delivers a powerful foundation for process optimization. This synergy of Process AI and Document AI empowers organizations to automate smarter and with greater confidence, ensuring they are solving the right challenges with the right technology. Data readiness and process understanding aren’t just supporting elements; they are the foundation for enduring AI success.

The power of IDP and BPM

Manoj Bhat, Partner Account Management Director at Pipefy, delivered a comprehensive look at how intelligent document processing (IDP) and business process management (BPM) work in tandem to transform digital operations.

By leveraging AI and machine learning, IDP extracts information from documents, eliminating manual bottlenecks, and transforms raw data into structured, machine-readable assets. BPM provides the strategic, end-to-end orchestration that ensures these transformed data assets move efficiently through enterprise systems. The partnership of these technologies prepares and understands essential business data to fuel streamlined and automated digital processes.

A case study was presented to exemplify this integration. It utilized Pipefy’s no-code platform along with the power of ABBYY purpose-built AI to empower business users to build, automate, and adapt workflows independently—without heavy IT reliance. This integrated approach yields measurable outcomes: organizations deploying IDP and BPM together via low-code automation have achieved documented reductions of up to 65% in operational costs and automated 30-50% of their workflows.

The hidden playbook of next-gen AI

For many businesses, the hasty nature of implementing AI without a roadmap stems from FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). When there is no specific goal behind AI investments beyond the idea that “everyone is doing it,” then there is no strategic reason why organizations should implement these technologies. Purpose-built AI is about implementing the right AI technologies (IDP, LLMs, agentic, RAG, etc.) where they are most fit for purpose—and have the opportunity to deliver the most value.

The ABBYY AI Summit in Singapore provided a clear and actionable vision for the future of enterprise AI and intelligent automation. Attendees walked away knowing that successful AI implementation is about building a solid foundation of process understanding and data intelligence. By combining purpose-built AI with strategic workflow orchestration, organizations can move beyond hype and achieve measurable, transformative results.
