The new version includes CardHolder – a searchable digital archive designed for convenient handling of captured business cards. Among its new capabilities, it allows users to instantly share images of recognized business cards as well as the card data itself, via e-mail or SMS. It also helps back up all contacts and simplifies export of data to contact managers like Microsoft® Outlook®.

ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture, linguistic technologies and services, today announced the second version of ABBYY Business Card Reader 2.0 for Android™, a smart mobile application to quickly capture and easily manage contact data from business cards in 20 popular languages. The new version includes CardHolder – a searchable digital archive designed for convenient handling of captured business cards. Among its new capabilities, the updated Business Card Reader for Android allows users to instantly share images of recognized business cards as well as the card data itself, via e-mail or SMS. New version also helps back up all contacts and simplifies export of data to contact managers like Microsoft® Outlook®.

With the new CardHolder, Android users can quickly upload, recognize and store images of business cards and, if needed, transfer the data into the device’s address book. For optimal organization of contacts, Cardholder enables archived images of the recognized cards to be arranged into groups for quick search and sorting. Contact data contained within stored images are available for immediate use: by tapping a corresponding ‘action’ button in CardHolder, users can instantly make a call, send an e-mail or text message, look up a street address, or follow a web link.

“This new version brings an optimal set of functions for comfortable yet efficient work with business cards, making ABBYY Business Card Reader for Android suitable for corporate use as well”, commented Olga Tolstunova, sales and marketing director of mobile products at ABBYY. “When the program is integrated with a corporate CRM system, users working outside the office can capture new contacts on the go and make them available to corporate databases, and their business associates, with the touch of a button.”

In addition, the Android audience can now enjoy a smaller-size distributive due to the more selective approach of installing recognition languages.
