As a combined bundle, ABBYY FineReader and WordQ SpeakQ complement each other to provide individuals with powerful literacy support. The synergy allows printed text to be read back from a variety of sources: from books, from PDFs and from photographs of text.

Partnership will extend ABBYY’s reach in the Education software markets in the UK

ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software and Assistive Solutions, a specialist assistive technology provider,  announced today an agreement to offer FineReader and WordQ SpeakQ as a combined bundle. Assistive Solutions have an outstanding record working with assistive software and the cooperation will strengthen the relationship further as they share expertise within this specialist market.

David Baxter-Williams, Assistive Solutions Managing Director said “We are delighted to be working with ABBYY and to be able to match ABBYY FineReader’s impressive OCR tools with WordQ SpeakQ. The two pieces of software complement each other to provide individuals with powerful literacy support. The synergy allows printed text to be read back from a variety of sources: from books, from PDFs and from photographs of text.”

WordQ is a software tool that works alongside standard writing software. It provides spoken feedback and suggests spelling corrections to help resolve written mistakes. Dyslexic people who have problems with reading, writing and editing often benefit from using WordQ. SpeakQ plugs into WordQ to provide speech recognition. SpeakQ makes it possible for people with disabilities to compose text through dictation, rather than typing which alleviates problems with spelling.

ABBYY FineReader Professional Edition provides easy-to-use text recognition and PDF conversion for creating searchable and editable digital files from documents, PDF files, scans, and digital camera images. ABBYY FineReader Professional Edition is based on ABBYY’s intelligent document recognition technologies, offering high levels of accuracy when converting texts while at the same time re-creating document formatting such as tables, columns, bullets, and numbering.

“ABBYY has a long tradition and track record in the Education sector and we are very pleased to be working with Assistive Solutions,” said Fiona McCormick, Channel Sales Manager, UK and Ireland. “We believe we can add considerable value with these two best of breed products.”

The ABBYY FineReader and WordQ package is available to customers in the UK and can be purchased directly through Assistive Solutions:
