Powered by AllJoyn™, an open software framework developed by Qualcomm Innovation Center Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, the updated version allows Android® customers to easily share their contact information with each other on the fly by utilizing the Business Card Reader. This new capability will provide certain benefits to Apple® users as well, with the release of the Business Card Reader for iOS version coming soon.

ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software and professional services, today announced the availability of ABBYY Business Card Reader 3.0 for Android, the newest version of a smart mobile application for extracting and managing contact data from business cards in 20 languages.

“Now it is extremely easy to exchange business cards with your potential partners and customers who already have the Business Card Reader installed on their devices, be that at conferences, workshops or exhibitions,” commented Katya Solntseva, Director of Mobile Products Department at ABBYY. “A face-to-face card transfer or a remote collecting of cards from the air – you can choose what suits you best.”

Specifically pre-installed, ‘My business cards’ group is easy to complete with your personal business cards. After being digitized, these contacts are available for wireless sending via the Wi-Fi network. By default, the program is ready to wirelessly receive contacts – a brief notification will inform you about someone ‘on the wire’. By incorporating AllJoyn functionality, users are able to instantaneously and seamlessly connect to others nearby regardless of OS platform or device type. Furthermore, based on the new generation of ABBYY’s OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology for mobile devices, the application ensures higher recognition accuracy for captured e-mails, phone numbers and website addresses.

You can try out the new functionality of ABBYY Business Card Reader for Android at 2013 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 25-28, at the Qualcomm Incorporated booth (Hall 3 Stand 3B64).
