Company Announces New Region Director and Partner; To Localize Solutions for Spanish Speakers

ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture, linguistic technologies and professional services, today announced that it is increasing its presence in Mexico and Central America with the hiring of a new region manager, commencement of a new partnership, and the localization of its complete solution set for Spanish speakers. This represents the company’s first steps at addressing the document recognition and data capture needs of organizations and individuals in the region, which the company plans to follow with the opening of an office in Mexico to support further growth.

“Organizations in Mexico and throughout Central America have seen their businesses shift from primarily regional operations, to global organizations in a few short years. This significant transition has made it increasingly important that they find better ways to share and capture information, and communicate,” said Bill Kouzi, vice president of sales, distribution group at ABBYY USA. “We believe this region will be a significant growth center moving forward. To maximize this growth, and address these business needs from the ground up, we are making investments now, including the hiring of a new region manager, the localization of our complete product line, and enlisting new partners.”

To support quick penetration of ABBYY products into the small- to medium-sized business (SMB), enterprise and consumer markets, the company will look to build upon its existing partnerships in the region. This includes expanding the current product offerings available to its partners, while also initiating new relationships with SMB and enterprise solution distributors, resellers, and retailers.

“We have seen increased interest from our customers for document recognition and data capture solutions, as they look to streamline business processes and communications,” said Jorge Aguirre, Director of Sales (Director de Ventas) at CompuCenter. “Working directly with ABBYY has allowed us to meet these needs, and expand our business. We look forward to expanding our relationship with ABBYY, and being a primary partner and Value Added Distributor (Mayorista de Valor Agregado) for them in Mexico and Central America.”

Leading the company’s efforts in Mexico and Central America, ABBYY has tapped Ruben Suazo as its director of sales for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Suazo comes to ABBYY after serving as Visioneer’s director of Latin America sales, and a long tenure at Kofax, providing him with a deep understanding of the region’s specific technical needs and changing landscape. Suazo’s primary responsibilities will be to build relationships with the region’s resellers and retailers, and to open up the company’s Mexican office.

“Mexico and Central America represent a significant opportunity for ABBYY moving forward. I am happy to be joining a great company, and industry leader to bring award-winning technologies to these regions as they look to expand their role in the global marketplace,” said Suazo. “It is our goal to become the goto solution provider for solving the document recognition and data capture needs of organizations and individuals throughout the region.”
