ABBYY Lingvo Family of Dictionary Applications Now Includes Special Chinese Edition

ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and language software, today announced ABBYY Lingvo x3 Chinese Edition, a special release of its award-winning dictionary software designed for Chinese users. It provides reliable and accurate translation of words and phrases from Chinese to Russian, English and back. Combining reliable content, powerful word look-up and intuitive software in a single product, ABBYY Lingvo x3 Chinese Edition is the ideal assistant for everyone working with those languages.

ABBYY has teamed up with leading dictionary publishers such as Collins and Russkiy Yazyk to deliver high-quality content. The Lingvo dictionaries contain detailed entry information for keywords, such as pronunciation keys, example sentences, grammatical descriptions and inflected forms of words. The Chinese-Russian-Chinese phrasebooks created by ABBYY linguists and included in the new dictionary provide up-to-date, commonly used phrases with detailed translations.

Its word look-up functions range from “instant” translation via a Pop-up dialogue to advanced full-text search. When working in other applications such as Microsoft® Word or a Web browser, users can get "instant" translations in a pop-up dialogue without leaving the application. ABBYY Lingvo’s advanced full-text search function allows users to find all available information on a word and its use in all dictionary content. Its interface also provides a toolbar link to Wikipedia for finding additional information on a given word and to Internet searches for learning more about its use in the native environment. Other functions guide users to the words they need even if they are not sure about spelling.

ABBYY Lingvo allows users to create custom dictionaries with company or industry-specific vocabulary in Lingvo format which is very convenient for frequent work with a foreign language. In addition, the dictionary application comes with Lingvo Tutor, an efficient tool for memorizing new words in a simple and enjoyable way.

ABBYY Lingvo x3 Chinese Edition supports 8 interface languages including Chinese, English, German, French, Russian, Kazakh, Polish, Spanish, and Ukrainian. It also includes virtual keyboards for typing in Cyrillic-based characters.
