Acquisition to Bolster ABBYY's Existing VAR Programs and Increase Company Expertise Across Vertical Markets
ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies and services, today announced that it has acquired Digital Documents. An award-winning Value-Added Reseller (VAR) and Systems Integrator, Digital Documents is focused on document capture, recognition and retrieval technologies for the healthcare, education, government, financial services and retail markets. ABBYY's acquisition of Digital Documents reaffirms the company's commitment to its VAR Partners by bringing valuable reseller expertise in-house.
"ABBYY and Digital Documents are like-minded organizations with a similar, singular focus on automated document capture, recognition and retrieval technologies," said Bruce Genger, president and CEO of Digital Documents. "Our customers seek out data capture technology because it offers a significant return on investment, particularly in an economic downturn where it is important to maximize productivity and lower costs. We are truly excited to become part of an organization with such a rich history in capture and with such a strong commitment to supporting the needs of its VAR Partners."
Digital Documents has nearly two decades of experience in automated document capture, recognition and retrieval technologies. Its senior management team has more than six decades of combined automated form data capture and enterprise content management experience.
"Digital Documents has maintained a longstanding relationship with ABBYY USA and our two organizations share a commitment to furthering the use of data capture technology across industries," said Dean Tang, president and CEO of ABBYY USA. "With this acquisition, ABBYY is both augmenting vertical market expertise and bolstering existing VAR programs to help increase the distribution of our solutions in the U.S. and Canada. By leveraging Digital Documents' experience in the marketplace, we will be better able to anticipate and serve the needs of our valued VAR Partners."
Digital Documents maintains hundreds of active clients across North America, including American Medical Response; Claire's Stores, Inc.; Chicago Office Technology Group, A Xerox Company; and Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.
