Daybreak’s eCapture Suite to Integrate ABBYY FineReader Engine 8.1 for Intelligent OCR and Document Conversion
Daybreak Intellectual Capital Solutions, Inc., a provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software and consulting services, and ABBYY®, a world leader in document recognition and linguistics technologies, today announced an agreement to integrate ABBYY FineReader® Engine 8.1 with eCapture Suite (e4x), Daybreak's next generation of distributed document capture solutions. FineReader Engine 8.1 will add advanced document recognition capabilities to eCapture Suite, including full text and zonal OCR, automatic metadata capture, and PDF conversion.
eCapture Suite is built on a modular platform that consists of the core capture engine and ECM platform plug-ins. Additional plug-ins can be added, making it easy to scan, index, and route paper documents into multiple ECM repositories. The software provides security features including secure communications, user authentication and access control to appropriate content repositories. e4x is built from the ground up for Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) to facilitate interoperability with legacy systems within an organization.
"We're really pleased to welcome Daybreak into the ABBYY partner community," said Dean Tang, CEO of ABBYY USA. "With the ability to accurately and intelligently capture, recognize, index, and route documents to multiple repositories from a single interface, Daybreak is introducing a fresh new concept to the world of distributed document capture. We're thrilled that ABBYY recognition technology will be part of its eCapture Suite solution."
Daybreak joins an already impressive list of ABBYY partners who specialize in the capture and enterprise content management space. The ABBYY FineReader Engine offers comprehensive recognition, data capture and document conversion tools in a single toolkit, enabling its development partners and integrators to work in a single, efficient environment without the need to integrate different toolkits from multiple vendors. The FineReader Engine is flexible enough to support development of applications of any architecture and scale. Developers can create a client workstation designed from scratch, build a server-based solution, or integrate the FineReader Engine technologies into an existing application.
"When we started searching for an OCR engine for eCapture Suite, we performed extensive market research on all of the key players," said Kara Cleaver, Daybreak President and CEO. "We selected ABBYY as our partner based on its recognition accuracy, robust API, ease of use, and unique concurrent licensing model. We also feel that FineReader Engine 8.1 provides excellent flexibility and provides more out-of-the box functionality than any of the other SDKs we evaluated".
eCapture Suite is scheduled to ship in August 2007.
