Document Scanning and Image Import

ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine can receive images from three types of sources: document scanning, opening from files, or directly from memory.

Document Scanning

ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine enables flexible management of scanning parameters, such as: brightness, colority, resolution, image size, duplex scanning, pause between pages setup and more.

Image file formats

The Data Capture SDK supports the majority of image formats, including multi-page TIFF and JPEG 2000 (part1), and works with black-and-white, grayscale and color images. It also opens PDF files by converting them into images with Adobe® PDF Library Technology.

Working with source image as a stream in memory

Images can be loaded into memory and preprocessed using either Engine methods or third party software. The preprocessed image pages are then passed to the FlexiCapture processor for recognition directly from memory, without creating temporary files.
